The World's Top 5 Ski Resorts for Non-Skiers

London, UK (PRWEB) March 6, 2009

Last month's blizzard in the UK created an avalanche of searches to snowier climates on Cheapflights.co.uk, the UK's leading flight price comparison website where you can search and compare the best deals on the market.

Bargain hunters pulled down the shades on winter sun and headed for the slopes to make the most of the biggest snowfall for 30 years in much of Europe, including popular ski resorts in Switzerland and Austria. But what if you're a non-skier, preferring the apr?s ski to a day of challenging runs?

Cheapflights.co.uk has compiled a list of the top five ski resorts for non-skiers, allowing everyone to experience the perks of a snowy atmosphere. The tips page Non-Skiers Guide to Ski reveals the attractions of some of the world's most popular ski resorts. The top 5 resorts are:

1) Aspen, Colorado - the celeb hotspot where on piste and apr?s ski celeb sightings of stars including Hillary Swank, Melanie Griffith and Ivana Trump are run of the mill*

2) Courchevel, France - combine food and snow at this destination where Michelin starred culinary offerings run rampant and cooking classes are held "au sommet"

3) Bad Gastein, Austria - wash away the recession within the natural springs of this renowned spa resort where thermal baths bubble over with temptation to relax all manner of stresses and strains

4) Whistler, Canada - catering to tastes of all kinds from intrepid sleigh rides with majestic Alaskan Huskies to parties and romance, this town has it all

5) St. Moritz, Switzerland - the hub of icy sport and shopping extraordinaire that practically coined the phrase 'ritz and glitz', glamour rocks this snow filled haven attracting skiers and non-skiers alike

Francesca Ecsery, General Manager for Cheapflights.co.uk says: "For a keen mountaineer like myself who has a penchant for snowy activities like skiing and mountain climbing, the UK's recent snowfall only served to whet my appetite for the slopes as we approach the last of the ski season. And what better time to go than now when just as the flurries appeared to be dwindling, France, Austria and Switzerland report unexpected snowfalls varying between 20-90cm, while Canada and the US forecast between 50-60cm.

"Those of us who ski hard also need to be pampered hard so this new tips page comes in very handy. Whether your preference is ski or apr?s ski, it contains all the information you need for an enjoyable experience both on and away from the slopes."

Travellers undertaking snowy peaks for the first time might like to take heed of a few precautions even if skiing or snowboarding is not on the agenda. Skin protection is essential as sunburn and frost bite are equally rampant on the slopes. Eye protection is another must so take your pick of sunglasses and goggles for altering light conditions. And finally, make sure to dress warm; remember snow is wet and slippery, so your outermost layer should be waterproof and your boots should be built for balance.** If your destination of choice is big on glamour, you might want to ensure that you take a stylish approach to those warm layers.

Notes to Editors

Cheapflights Ltd.: Cheapflights.co.uk was launched in 1996. It pioneered the concept of online flight price search and comparison and has been consistently profitable since launch. It was the first UK dotcom to introduce pay-per-click in 2000, which helped to transform online advertising. Cheapflights does not sell tickets but publishes flight deals from airlines, budget airlines, online travel agents and the long tail of other specialist flight deal providers. It launched its US site Cheapflights.com in May 2003, which has rapidly grown and which now provides half of Cheapflights' millions of monthly visits by consumers. Its Canadian site Cheapflights.ca which was "Light" launched in April 2007 is already enjoying traffic of over 300,000 monthly visits. The first non-English language site Cheapflug.de was "light" launched in Germany in October 2008. Cheapflights' main European and North American sites each provide consumers with rapid, easy to use comparisons of about 1 million flight deals daily from the broadest online selection of travel operators. The sites are valued by travel industry advertisers as a neutral, high-traffic source of quality high-conversion consumer leads. Cheapflights' status as an independent online travel price search and comparison and travel news site, together with its free opt-in subscriber newsletters makes it a natural starting point for finding travel deals and up-to-date travel industry information on both sides of the Atlantic.
